I was elected as the only Independent Councillor on Carterton Town Council in June 2007 and then re-elected in 2011. I was elected as Deputy Mayor of Carterton on in May 2010 and as the Town Mayor in May 2012.

I have worked in Aerospace Engineering and Vocational Training in the Royal Air Force, where I have spent more than seventeen years working in scheduled and flight line maintenance from routine inspections to non destructive testing. Five years in the Training and Development arena as an Instructor, NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier and 2 years as an Engineering & Logistics Advisor in Force Headquarters with responsibility for Fleet Planning and Engineering Liaison/advice to the Integrated Project Teams, Station Operations, Aircraft Squadrons and Station Executives. I’m currently employed as a facilitator within the Continuous Improvement Team at RAF Brize Norton, which means I spend my time helping departments break down there work processes to identify opportunities to improve  and to establish whether the work processes are efficient, effective and value for money.

Married to Kerry for 18 years. We have lived in Carterton for 8 years with our son Nathan, who is 17 and having studied very successfully at Carterton Community College, now studies  at the Henry Box school.

I am politically Independent (I believe in responsibility, enterprise, fairness, aspiration, equality and trust in people.) with no affiliation to any political party or movement. I strive to be as open and accessible as possible, always clear in my personal views and my political stance on issues which matter most to local people including town development, young people, recreation, planning applications, policy, traffic, policing etc.

My Independent status means I am able to speak freely and honestly on the subjects which matter most to people in Carterton. I welcome constructive feedback and I read every email and letter that I receive, and I strive to answer them all within 48hrs.
